Oh, December

The holiday season can be a fun time, but it's pretty common to get the winter doldrums as well. I mean, I think it makes anyone sad when the sun sets at 4:30.
Here are some things to look forward to during the last month of 2008...

1. "Holiday" coffee drinks (ok, warm alcoholic beverages, too)
2. The few days after finals week, when the feeling of scholarly freedom is fresh.
3. Loads of warm blankets on the bed (even better if you have someone to share it with)
4. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on Christmas day (Woo hoo F. Scott Fitzgerald! I don't know about you all, but while my family is breaking things and yelling at each other, I will be at the cinemas, seeing this)
5. Idealistic hopes for the new year (Older, wiser, and perhaps a new years resolution that will be kept)

Bridging the Gen. Gap

Has anyone seen/heard the new Adidas (yes, the shoe, and yes, I know it's not 1995) campaign with all the really famous people partying with a bunch of average joes? Yea, it's alright. But what's particularly fun about it is the tunes! "Beggin'" is a song, written and recorded in the 1970's by Franki Valli and the Four Seasons. Some people aren't very fond of using old music to promote new ideas (ex: anytime a current music artist "samples" an old, excellent piece of music. Do any youngsters even know where Kanye got his genius for 'Stronger'? Anyone? Oh, Anywho...)
As a lover of (very) golden oldies, this happens to rock my world. If you haven't yet, check it out.

One of the Worst Things

I consider myself to be fairly, err, somewhat wise regarding people. By my 23rd year of life I would like to say that I am by now a good judge of character. After all, you're supposed to 'know better' at some point, right? For example, last night at Russian River, out with some friends of mine, I saw a decently, ok, really cute guy. Somehow, he ended up giving me his number. The interesting thing is that he was a real prick. I'm serious. I understand the whole teasy-flirty thing, but this guy really surprised me. I'm not sure what the point was regarding his behavior. Apparently, it's been so long since i've been on the dating scene that the whole style of effective flirting has evolved.

Or, I have to come to terms with the fact that I'm still attracting assholes.
